Where Art Comes To Life!

Each night during the summer season at 8:30 the Festival of Arts presents its most famous attraction, the Pageant of the Masters.

What is it?

Ninety minutes of "living pictures" - incredibly faithful art re-creations of classical and contemporary works with real people posing to look exactly like their counterparts in the original pieces. An outdoor amphitheater, professional orchestra, original score, live narration, intricate sets, sophisticated lighting, expert staff, and hundreds of dedicated volunteers have won recognition for the Pageant as the best presentation of its kind.

MISSION STATEMENT:
Our mission is to promote, produce, and sponsor events and activities that encourage the appreciation, study and performance of the arts.

I wanted to share an alternative outing for those of you who live in the Southern California area. I attend this festival every year and am blown away by it every year. If you've never seen this in person your in for a treat. This years theme is "A Passion for Art"

What mysterious force compels an artist to create a work of lasting beauty and power? Is it romance, love, obsession? The 2006 Pageant of the Masters will explore such intriguing questions in this year's theme, A Passion for Art .

From classical to contemporary, from heart-warming to heart-rending, A Passion for Art will illuminate some of the very personal stories behind a gallery of the world's most moving and memorable artworks.

These delightful images of love and romance will come to life through the Pageant's unique blend of breathtaking theatrical "living pictures", along with music performed by the Pageant's renowned orchestra and live narration.

Ocean Front Dining at Claire's

"Claire’s at the Museum is located in the historic Elizabeth Milbank Anderson House, which was recently restored as part of the Museum's $6.5 million expansion. Claire’s is located on the first floor of the house, which connects to an outdoor patio surrounding Claire Falkenstein's stunning water sculpture, Structure and Flow. Wondering how to spend a perfect Sunday? Visit Claire's at the Museum and you won't be disappointed. I've lived nearby this beautiful Museum for the past 10 years and have spent countless morning enjoying breakfast by the sea. I've seen this patio transform itself from a small cart selling coffee and bagels to this amazing restaurant.

When ever I have a craving for a healthy but fulfilling meal I always come to Claire's. My favorite item on the lunch menu is a grilled salmon over a bed of green fields, slices of cucumber, tomatoes, and avocado drizzled with a creamy vinaigrette dressing. Their menu also features freshly made soups, sandwiches, fantastic desserts, pastries, coffee and a selection of beer and wines.

Come for the food but please stay and enjoy the Museum as well.
